Fees
The monthly fees listed here do not cover the full cost of providing care for your child. Fund-raising done by the Board of Directors, staff, and parents subsidizes the actual cost. Each year it is challenging to raise funds to cover the costs for all families. Each family is expected to be a part of this process, whether through volunteering to help or making a direct financial contribution.

If you choose to pay an amount above what is listed, you can claim the difference between the base tuition rate and the amount paid as a charitable contribution to our non-profit center. This method of payment is a self-determined sliding fee scale. Please write two separate checks. Thank you.

Effective September 1, 2009 the fees for care are:
Infants and Toddlers: $1,250  per Month
Transition Age: $1,108  per Month
Preschool: $ 970  per Month
We are open Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm. A full day is considered 7 to 10 hours of care a day. If you require more than 10 hours a day of care, please talk with the Executive Director.

To enroll your child at Fruit & Flower you must be employed at least 30 hours a week or be a full time student.

Wait List Fee In order for Fruit & Flower to cover the cost of maintaining and managing our Wait List, a fee of $75 is required. Complete the Wait List Registration form and return it with a check or money order for $75 to Fruit & Flower Child Care Center, 2378 NW Irving Street, Portland, Oregon, 97210, Attn: Judi Gilles.

Our scholarship program assists low-income families. If you feel you qualify for assistance, you are not required to pay the Wait List fee. Please indicate this on Wait List Registration form.

Deposits A deposit fee of $100 is required once the Center staff and parents have agreed upon a specific starting date for care. Part of the deposit ($25) is applied to the first month’s fee with another part ($25) as a one-time processing fee. The other half ($50) is a tax-deductible contribution to Fruit & Flower that makes you a member of our organization for one year and entitles you to a single vote at the Annual Meeting. The Center will refund the deposit ONLY if the agreed upon entry date is not available as promised.

Monthly Fees Fees are to be paid on the first of each month unless special arrangements have been made with the bookkeeper. If fees are not paid in full within 30 days, the account will be considered delinquent unless a schedule of payment has been established. Otherwise, the account will be referred to our collection agency.

Late Fees A late fee of $5 for every five minute period, or segment thereof after 6pm will be assessed whenever a child is not picked up by closing time. Please as be respectful of our time, as we try to be of yours.

Holidays, Vacations and Illnesses Monthly fees are not pro-rated for holidays or vacations. However, if your child is seriously ill, we will adjust your fee for every day your child is absent beyond the first full five days of absence.
